Private Charter | Pulau Segantang, Langkawi
Last weekend, Scuba Club Langkawi had the pleasure of hosting a private diving charter to Pulau Segantang for guests staying at the Ritz-Carlton Langkawi.
What made this trip particularly memorable was not only the diving itself, but the weather conditions leading up to our departure.
Pulau Segantang Private Charter - A Rainy Start to the Day
The morning began with gloomy skies and persistent rain across Langkawi. Conditions looked uncertain, and we made the decision to delay our departure by approximately one hour while monitoring the weather.
Even when we finally left our dive centre in Kuah, dark clouds still covered parts of the main island. Looking towards the horizon, the weather appeared far from ideal and many would have expected rough seas and poor visibility.
However, as every experienced diver knows, the ocean often has its own plans.
Despite the gloomy weather over Langkawi, the sea conditions were surprisingly calm and flat. With smooth seas and favourable conditions, our boat completed the journey to Pulau Segantang in just 35 minutes.
Three Dives Around Segantang Island
The charter included three dives across different sections of the island, allowing our guests to experience the variety that makes Segantang one of Langkawi's hidden diving gems.
Dive 1 – South Point (25 metres)
Our first dive was a deeper exploration of Segantang's southern reef slope, descending to approximately 25 metres. The clear blue water provided excellent visibility, allowing divers to appreciate the dramatic underwater landscape and spot larger reef fish moving along the reef edge.
Dive 2 – Northern Point (16 metres)
The second dive took us to the northern section of the island at around 16 metres depth. Here, divers explored healthy reef formations teeming with marine life. Schools of reef fish moved across the coral-covered slopes while numerous smaller reef inhabitants could be found hiding among the rocks and corals.
Dive 3 – Anemone Garden (12 metres)
The final dive was a relaxed exploration of Segantang's beautiful Anemone Garden at approximately 12 metres depth. Colourful anemones swayed gently in the current while clownfish defended their homes from curious visitors. The shallow depth and excellent visibility provided a perfect ending to an already fantastic day underwater.
Clear Water and Incredible Conditions
One of the biggest surprises of the day was the water clarity.
While Langkawi remained under dark clouds, Pulau Segantang rewarded us with warm water, excellent visibility, and calm conditions throughout the day. The contrast between the weather over the mainland and the conditions at the dive site could not have been greater.
During the dives, our guests encountered a variety of reef fish, including several larger species, and were delighted to spot a lobster during one of the dives.
Over the course of approximately six hours, the group completed three dives, enjoyed surface intervals around the island, and experienced some of the best diving conditions currently available in Langkawi waters.
Guest Feedback
The greatest reward for our team is seeing guests leave with unforgettable memories.
Following the trip, our guests shared the following feedback with our Director, YJ:
The boys definitely took very good care of us and the dive was outstanding. Saw a lot of large fish and a lobster.
They also added:
We thoroughly enjoyed the day and the best part was missing the rain. Even as we were on the way to Pulau Segantang this morning, we saw very dark clouds in the horizon where the island was but when we reached the island, no rain, no wind. The water was warm and very clear. Great diving experience today. Thanks again!

Receiving feedback like this reminds us why we are passionate about sharing Langkawi's underwater world with visiting divers.
Why Choose a Segantang Private Charter?
Located west of Pulau Payar Marine Park, Pulau Segantang offers a more exclusive diving experience away from the regular tourist routes. With deeper reefs, dramatic underwater topography, healthy coral growth, and fewer divers, it is an excellent choice for certified divers seeking something beyond the standard Langkawi dive trip.
For experienced divers looking for warm water, clear visibility, and a private charter experience, Segantang continues to be one of Langkawi's best-kept secrets.
We would like to thank our guests from Ritz-Carlton Langkawi for choosing Scuba Club Langkawi and look forward to welcoming them back for another underwater adventure in the future.
A Special Thank You to Our Dive Team
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our dive team who made this trip a success.
